Four-Time Near-Winner

I awoke this morning to a bit of good news: this very site was selected as an “11th Annual Webby Awards Official Honoree” in the Professional Services category. By my count, this makes me a four-time near-winner for a major design award: A three-time finalist for a Macromedia (now Adobe) MAX Award, and now what basically amounts to an honorable mention for a Webby. In all cases, I’m pretty happy: being a finalist (but not an outright winner) for a MAX award boils down to second place out of hundreds of entries, and while there are five nominees ahead of me for a Webby award, this is out of a greatly expanded pool of thousands.

Official PR-speak:

The 11th Annual Webby Awards received a record 8,000 entries from over 60 countries and all 50 states. Out more than 8,000 entries submitted, fewer than 15% received this honor and were deemed Official Honorees.

Now soliciting suggestions for my new tagline, such as “DzignSpace: Award-Winning Design . . . Almost” or “DzignSpace: When Second-Best is Enough.” Got a better one? Let me hear it….

How about, “You’d better hire me now, because my rates will go way up when I’m #1.”
